USCA Concludes Season In PBC Tournament

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The USCA men's soccer team lost a 7-2 match at third-seeded Flagler Saturday afternoon in the first round of the PBC Tournament.

The Pacers conclude the season at 5-8-4.

Head coach Nick Sakiewicz's team trailed 1-0 in the early going. However, the squad battled back to knot the contest at the 22:50 mark. Rafael Kawata played a through ball from the right side of the pitch to the center of the box. Riad Zitouni gained control of the pass and rocketed a shot past the keeper, tying the match at 1-1.

Trailing 2-1 after a goal by the Saints in the 33rd minute, USCA quickly went on the offensive. Kawata, an all-league performer, took a free kick and blasted a shot to the top left corner, knotting the contest at 2-2.

With 1:25 to play in the first half, Flagler took a one-goal lead on a shot in front of the net.

Samuel Mitchell tried to tie the match in the 49th minute, but his attempt was saved.

The Saints scored three goals for a 6-2 edge before Mitchell recorded the team's next shot, which occurred in the 75th minute of action.

Down 7-2, Rainier McKinzy posted an attempt in the 80th minute. USCA earned a pair of corner kicks – and the second resulted in a shot by Andres Caceres, but it sailed high of the goal. Rafael Reno's shot in the 88th minute missed wide of the frame.

For the match, Sakiewicz's team posted 12 shots, including seven on frame. USCA earned five corner kicks in the contest.

Felipe Mattos played all 90 minutes between the pipes and had four saves.
