AIKEN, S.C. – The USCA men's soccer team lost a 3-0 contest to Lander Saturday evening in the regular-season finale.
The Pacers are now 5-7-4 on the season, including 3-6-3 in PBC play.
Head coach
Nick Sakiewicz's team fell behind 1-0 in the 20
th minute of action. In the 22
nd minute of play,
Rafael Kawata earned a corner kick, but the squad was unable to register a shot on the possession.
Kenny Kwizera Jr. rocketed a shot on goal at the 35:57 mark, but the keeper thwarted the attempt.
Rainier McKinzy II controlled the rebound and blasted another attempt. However, the Bearcats' keeper managed to stop the shot.
Davis Scharfeld's attempt in the 41
st minute of play was saved as the score remained 1-0 entering the second half.
After a foul on the Pacers in the 49
th minute, LU pushed the margin to 2-0 on the free kick. At the 55:54 mark,
Cheikh Atamao's shot was stopped.
The Bearcats pushed the advantage to 3-0 in the 58
th minute of play.
Melvin Maboungou's shot on goal in the 59
th minute was tremendous, but the keeper was up for the challenge.
A well-played past to
Samuel Mitchell on a breakaway gave him a sensational opportunity at the 64:44 mark, but the Bearcats were able to make the stop.
For the match, Sakiewicz's team tallied nine shots, including eight on goal. The squad earned a corner kick.
Felipe Mattos got the starting nod while
Sean Simoncelli entered early in the second period and notched five saves.
The Pacers return to action in the PBC Tournament. The league office will announce the upcoming match-ups.
