Anita Cookey-Gam has been named the PBC Player of the Week, as announced by the league office.
Cookey-Gam, a native of Sumter, S.C., guided the Pacers to a 2-0 week.
The 5-7 freshman outside hitter earned her first career start at Francis Marion and responded by posting a career-high 17 kills in the five-set come-from-behind victory. It marked the first time in her career that she registered double-digit kills. Cookey-Gam hit .270 in the match and added four total blocks.
At UNC Pembroke, Cookey-Gam equaled her career best with 17 kills while hitting .324. She picked up a block and totaled four digs.
For the week, she averaged 3.77 digs per set and hit .297.
