USC Aiken Downs North Greenville

Box Score AIKEN, S.C.--Chad Jacobsen smacked a bases-clearing double as part of a five-run fourth inning as #27 USC Aiken (32-15) doubled up North Greenville (17-32) 10-5 in non-conference baseball action on Wednesday evening at Roberto Hernandez Stadium. With their 10-straight win in non-conference play, the Pacers picked up their eighth consecutive victory at the friendly confines.

Jacobsen, the Peach Belt Conference's RBI leader, finished 3-for-3 with two doubles and a career-best five RBI.

A quick start by the Crusaders resulted in an early 2-0 hole for USC Aiken in the first inning. Mike Reis and Curt Marshall both doubled in the opening frame while Kyle Baron tacked on a sacrifice fly. Reis finished 2-for-5 with two doubles and a run scored while Marshall was 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, two RBI, and two runs scored. The duo combined for five of the team's seven hits on the night.

Trailing 2-1 in the third, Jacobsen's sacrifice fly to center field plated Josh Eachues to knot the game up.

In the fourth inning, Marc Joehnk singled to left field scoring Ken Raborn while Matt Key's RBI ground out made it 4-2 Pacers. With the bases loaded and two outs, Jacobsen doubled to left field to break the game open 7-2.

Raborn was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Zach Cooper and Darryl Pui each added two hits and combined to score four times.

Tyler Callicutt's infield single to third in the top of the sixth trimmed the margin to 7-4, but an Eachues' RBI ground out in the sixth and Raborn scoring on a wild pitch in the seventh gave USC Aiken some breathing room again at 9-4.

Dustin Tyra (4-0) won his third-straight start going 5.0 innings, allowing three runs, two earned, on three hits and two walks, striking out three. Four Pacer relievers tossed one inning each.

Dylan Davidson (3-8) worked a gutty complete game scattering 10 hits and four walks, surrendering 10 earned runs and fanning four in the loss for the Crusaders.

USC Aiken will now gear up for a key Peach Belt Conference weekend series with 11th-ranked Georgia College & State. The match-up, featuring two of the top three teams in the PBC, will kick off Saturday, April 21 with a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 PM at Roberto Hernandez Stadium. North Greenville next plays at Chowan University on Friday, April 20 at 2:00 PM.
