Three-Run Seventh Lifts Pacers To Comeback Win

Box Score AIKEN, S.C.--USC Aiken (2-0) plated three runs in the bottom of the seventh including Marc Joehnk's game winner for a 6-5 come-from-behind win over Lincoln Memorial (0-2) in college baseball action Saturday afternoon at Roberto Hernandez Stadium. The Pacers defeated the Railsplitters for the fourth-straight time and improve to 12-4 in the all-time series. 

LMU got on the board in the third inning after Hunter Pelt's sacrifice fly scored Josh Kemph who led off with a double down the left field line to make it 1-0. 

Michael Wadowski's sacrifice fly plated Daniel Quartararo for the equalizer in the fourth inning. Joehnk led off the bottom of the sixth with a triple down the right field line and Robert Davis and Steven Kinney added RBI singles to give the Pacers the 3-1 advantage. 

The Railsplitters surged back in front in the top of the seventh 5-3 with four runs on four hits. Kemph doubled in a run while Pelt pounded a single to right field pushing across two runs. 

Responding in the bottom of the seventh, Casey Derhak's triple down the right field line scored Zach Cooper. Davis singled to left field bringing around Derhak to knot the game at 5-5. Joehnk scored on a passed ball for the game winner. 

Peden Rucker tossed 5.0 strong innings allowing four hits and one earned run, striking out eight and walking none in the no-decision. Jon Paul (1-0) got the Pacers out of the seventh inning retiring both batters he faced in the win. Ryan Mitchell held the line in the eighth and Casey Derhak (1) sat down the Railsplitters in order in the ninth for the save. 

Joe Workman (0-1) surrendered three runs on two hits and one walk, failing to record an out in the loss. 

Davis had the only mult-hit game for the Pacers going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run scored. 

Pelt paced LMU with a 3-for-3 performance and three RBI. Wes Thompson and Kemph each had two hits. 

USC Aiken and Lincoln Memorial will face off tomorrow at 1:00 PM in the finale of their three-game series.
