Pacers Post Second Straight Tie

Box Score MISENHEIMER, N.C.--For the second time in three days, the USC Aiken women's soccer team tied its opponent. On Monday, in Misenheimer, N.C., the Lady Pacers (0-0-2) and Pfeiffer University (1-1-1) finished double-overtime play knotted at 2-2. USCA jumped out to an early lead with two goals in the first 20 minutes of action and then watched the Lady Falcons come from behind.

Junior Melissa Schnoering got USC Aiken on the board with an unassisted goal at the 10:25 mark of the first period. Natasha DaCosta gave the Lady Pacers a 2-0 advantage nine minutes later when she scored her second goal of the season.

Pfeiffer began chopping away at the lead 37 minutes into the match when Michelle Vaudreuil headed in a goal off a corner kick by Maria Reis.

It looked as if USC Aiken would earn its first victory of the season as the Lady Pacers took their 2-1 lead into the final five minutes of regulation. Amber Turchyn scored at the 85:45 mark however to tie the game. Vaudreuil and Reis assisted on the goal. Two 10-minute overtime periods couldn't determine a winner and the match ended in a tie.

The Lady Falcons held an 18-10 advantage in shots. DaCosta led USCA with three shots while Vaudreuil attempted a match-high six shots for Pfeiffer University. Senior Shannon Hobbs played all 120 minutes in goal for the Lady Pacers, making 10 saves. Jennifer Lindow played the entire match as well and saved eight shots for Pfeiffer.

USC Aiken's three-match road trip continues with stop number two on Wednesday in Charlotte, N.C., to face Queens University of Charlotte at 4:00 p.m.
