Robert Davis hit his team leading third home run of the season while teammate
Chris Sheehan knocked out his first of the year. The Pacers improve to 6-9 overall. The Trojans fall to 3-13 in 2004.
Anderson College manufactured the game's first run in the top of the first without even getting a hit. A leadoff walk, followed by a stolen base and back-to-back groundouts had the Trojans ahead 1-0.
The Pacers wasted no time grabbing the lead in the bottom of the first.
Ashley Farr tied the game with a one-out double to left field that scored
Zach Cooper. Davis, the very next batter, put USCA in front 3-2 with his blast that hit the scoreboard in left-center field.Â
Farr knocked in two more in the bottom of the second. He finished with two hits in three at bats, one run scored and three RBIs.Â
Six runs in the fifth and sixth innings put the game out of reach. Two RBI singles, one by
Tony Hanks and one by
Matthew Tripp accounted for the scoring in the fifth inning. Tripp had four hits in four at bats along with a run scored and an RBI.
The Pacers scored four runs with two outs in the sixth inning. Sheehan followed an RBI triple by
Bradley Key and another RBI single by Hanks with his two-run homer over the right-center field wall.Â
Jerod Summer picked up his first win of the season, scattering five hits over six innings. The right-handed junior allowed two runs, two walks and struck out two batters.
Anderson College put up three runs in the eighth. Caleb Owen scored on an interference call and Jared Taylor crossed home plate after a throwing error by
Ian Kowalchuk. F.A. Vildosola's double to left field capped the scoring for both teams.Â
Vildosola finished with two hits in four at bats and one RBI. Donavon Schmidt went three-for-four for the Trojans and Jason Ratliff was two-for-five with a run scored and two RBIs.
The Pacers will be in action again on Friday when they begin a three-game set with Peach Belt Conference foe Francis Marion University. The first pitch at Roberto Hernandez Stadium on the USC Aiken campus is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.Â
