Pacers Sweep Bellarmine

Box Score AIKEN, S.C.--USC Aiken finished off a three-game sweep of Bellarmine University today with a 6-5 win, in 10 innings, at J.H. Satcher Field in Aiken, S.C.  Bradley Key led off the bottom of the 10th inning with a home run over the left center field wall to give the Pacers (13-9) the win.  The Knights fall to 1-10 on the season. 
  
After Key knocked in the first run of the game in the first inning, Bellarmine scored twice in the second and third innings to take a 4-1 lead over USCA.  Eric Douglas got the Knights on the board with a single to left field that platted two Bellarmine runners.  In the third inning, Steve Polio added to the lead with an RBI double to right field.  Polio later scored on an error to give the Knights the three run advantage. 
  
A bases loaded walk to Clint Keown and an RBI fielder's choice by Ashley Farr in the bottom of the fourth inning brought USC Aiken to within one run at 4-3. 
  
The Pacers tied the game in the bottom half of the seventh and Key garnered his second RBI of the game in the eighth with a double to left field, scoring Keown
  
The Knights answered in their half of the ninth inning.  A pinch-hit, RBI double, by Mark Fandino tied the game for Bellarmine, 5-5.  USCA advanced the winning run from first to third in the bottom of the inning but couldn't push the winning run across the plate. 
  
Paul Ferrell retired the Knights in order in the 10th inning to set up Key's game winning heroics.  Key finished the game with three hits in six at bats, one run scored, three RBIs and his fourth home run of 2003.  FarrDemetrick Drumming and Leroy Walker each had three hits against the Knights. 
  
Ferrell replaced starter Jerod Summer in the fifth and allowed one hit and one run over five and two-thirds innings.  The sophomore walked one batter and struck out three on his way to improving his record to 2-1 on the season. 
  
The Pacers' 16-game home stand continues on Monday with a match-up with Southern Indiana at 6:00 p.m., at J.H. Satcher Field on the USC Aiken campus.
