Pacers Fall To Anderson

Box Score AIKEN, S.C.--USC Aiken lost tonight at J.H. Satcher field in Aiken, S.C., to Anderson College, 7-5.  The Pacers fall to 10-9 on the season while the Trojans improved to 11-3 overall.

Jared Taylor's two run home run in the top of the sixth proved to be the difference.  With one out, Johnny Garrett doubled to left center.  Taylor followed with a blast down the left field line giving the Trojans a 6-3 lead.

After Anderson added another run in the top of the eighth, the Pacers loaded the bases in the bottom of the inning with no outs.  Tony Hanks reached on catcher interference to lead off the inning.  Back-to-back singles by Bradley Key and Mike Cunningham loaded the bases for Leroy Walker.  After Walker struck out, Adam Strongman singled in one run with a hit to right field.  A ground ball to the shortstop was good enough for Anderson College to get the forced out at home plate, denying USCA another run.  Clint Keowndrew a bases loaded walk to force in the second run of the inning, but the
Pacers would get no more. Ashley Farr popped up to the shortstop to end the inning.

The Trojans kept USC Aiken at bay in the bottom of the ninth to preserve the 7-5 victory.

Farr gave the Pacers an early 1-0 lead with his fourth home run of the season.  The all-American sent a bomb over the left center field fence in the bottom of the first.

Anderson answered with two runs in the third and two more in the fifth to take a 4-1 lead.  USCA got two runs back in the bottom of the fifth to close the gap to 4-3.  Farr had an RBI ground out and Demetrick Drumming scored after Josh Wilson's attempt to gun downDrumming at third base sailed into left field.

Brett Youngblood pitched six and two-thirds innings for the Trojans.  He allowed seven hits, three runs, walked three batters and struck out three.  Harold Sofield got the start for USC Aiken and struck out seven Anderson batters in four and two-thirds innings of work. Sofield allowed five hits, four runs, just one earned run and walked two.

Farr finished the night with two hits in four at bats, one run and two RBIs.  Taylor went three-for-five for Anderson College with two runs scored and three RBIs.
