Pacers Beat Erskine

Box Score AIKEN, SC--After playing 32 innings against Georgia College & State this past weekend in three games, the Pacers (5-6) looked have a normal nine inning affair tonight. However, Erskine (10-1) traveled to Aiken looking to continue its school-best start at 10-0.  The Pacers proved to be too much for the Flying Fleet as USCA posted a 12-5 victory. 
  
Erskine leadoff the game with a run in the top of the first inning off Pacer hurler Rob Wilhite.  Erskine designated hitter Anthony Passalacqua hit a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring Alex Lewis for the early lead. 
  
The Pacers came right back in the bottom of the inning with a lead-off walk by Leroy Walker, followed by a two-run home run by Kyle Langley, giving USCA a 2-1 lead.  Flying Fleet hurler, Jason Rathbun, only lasted two-thirds of an inning as he surrendered three runs on three hits on four batters.  The final run of the inning came on a solo home run by Demetrick Drumming, giving USCA a 3-1 lead. 
  
USCA poured it on in the second inning with four runs on three hits.  Tavis Cummings hit a two run double to right center, highlighting the inning.  Langley tallied his third RBI of the game as he singled to right field.  After two innings, the Pacers built a 7-1 lead. 
  
A bases loaded hit batsman scored the Flying Fleet's second run of the game in the fifth inning off Pacer Chad McMurray who came into relief for Wilhite.  Another sacrifice fly by Erskine scored its second run of the inning.  The Flying Fleet were unable to get anything else across against McMurray
  
A two run double by Justin Williams scored the two runs back for the Pacers in the bottom of the inning.  Along with a bases loaded hit batsman, the Pacers increased their lead to 10-3 after five innings. 
  
The Pacers added two more runs in the bottom of the eighth, increasing their lead to 12-4.  Erskine added a run in the top of the ninth, cutting the deficit to 12-5.
McMurray (1-1) picks up the victory, going an inning and two-thirds, allowing one hit, one run, not earned and a strike out.  The Pacers travel to Lander for a weekend series with the Senators, beginning Friday, Feb. 22 at 4:00 p.m.
