AIKEN, S.C. – University of South Carolina baseball standout Christian Aragon has been named the South Carolina Education Lottery USC Aiken Student-Athlete of the Month for May.

Aragon, a senior from Atlanta, Ga., went 2-0 during the month of May on the mound.

In his two appearances, he registered a 0.68 ERA while going 2-0. He combined for a shutout as well.  

Aragon worked 13.1 frames and gave up just one run on eight hits. He struck out 12 while walking four. For the month, Aragon allowed just one extra-base hit (a double) and held opponents to a .163 batting average.

He tossed 5.1 frames against Emmanuel on May 6. Aragon struck out six while helping the team cruise to an 8-0 win.

In the PBC Tournament against Columbus State, he worked eight frames while throwing a career-high 138 pitches.

For the season, Aragon finished with a 9-1 mark and a 3.22 ERA in 81 innings of work.
