AIKEN, S.C. – After an outstanding season by three student-athletes,
Jalen McCoy,
Erik Olin and
Josh Sharp will share the honor of being named USCA Division of Athletics 2024-25 Male Athlete of the Year.
In an unprecedented academic year, all three had tremendous success and will be recognized for their hard work and effort.
McCoy, a redshirt-senior from Raleigh, N.C., garnered second-team all-region honors. The PBC Tournament MVP secured first-team all-PBC honors. McCoy was also named PBC Player of the Week twice.
He started all 33 games and averaged 19.7 points to go along with six rebounds a night. He buried 52.4 percent of his shots from the floor and scored at least 20 points 16 times during the season. While scoring 650 points on the year, McCoy became the program's Division II career leader for points, ending his career with 1,793.
Olin, a native of Falsterbo, Sweden, garnered PING all-region honors. He picked up first-team all-PBC honors and was named to the PBC all-tournament team after taking second. The standout led the team with a 71.14 stroke average, which marked the third lowest in school history.
Olin tallied six top-10 efforts on the year, including four top-five finishes. He accounted for a season-low round of 66. Olin finished second at the Bobcat Invitational and at the PBC Championship, third at the Bearcat Fall Invitational and Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate, eighth at the Bearcat Spring Invitational and ninth at the Mizuno Intercollegiate.
Sharp, a native of Lawrenceville, Ga., was named second-team all-region by ABCA/Rawlings and the NCBWA. A first-team all-conference selection, Sharp established the school and PBC single-season record with 12 triples.
The standout led Division I and Division II with his 12 three-bag hits. His effort also catapulted him into the top spot for a career at USCA with 20 while tying the PBC mark set by Michael Wilson (FMU, 2011-14).
Sharp led the team in batting average (.388), OPS (1.161), runs (72), hits (81), doubles (13), triples (12), total bases (142), slugging percentage (.679), walks (32), on-base percentage (.482) and steals (30).
