Each week, USC Aiken will post notes. This week, the Pacers host Emory & Henry on Tuesday, March 5 before playing at Newberry on Wednesday, March 6 and at Georgia Southwestern on Friday, March 8, Saturday, March 9 and Sunday, March 10.
Starting PBC Play Off With A Bang
After a change in the schedule due to the weather, USC Aiken was forced to play a doubleheader to start conference competition. The Pacers responded with a resounding 14-1 victory. The squad pounded out 16 hits in the league opener – five of which went for extra bases. The 14 runs also tied the season-best effort for runs in a game. Overall, the Pacers posted at least 10 runs in each of the three PBC wins.
Small BallÂ
In the 15-7 victory over Claflin, head coach
Michael Holder's team pounded out 15 hits. Ironically, all 15 were of the one-base variety. Eight student-athletes got a hit, including multi-hit games from
Brock Myers (3),
Wyatt McPherson (3), Dennis Doom (3) and
Dalton Graves (2). However, all 15 base knocks were singles.Â
Garcia's Great Game
Redshirt-sophomore
Matt Garcia had himself a game in the outing against Claflin. The standout worked 5.1 innings of relief and struck out a career-high 12 batters. For his effort, he picked up PBC Pitcher of the Week honors.Â
Starting Off 3-0
Head coach
Michael Holder's team started the PBC slate off in fine style last week, picking up a sweep of Claflin. The team bested the Panthers 14-1 in the first game, 15-7 in the second contest and 10-0 in the series finale. Â

This week, the Pacers host Emory & Henry on Tuesday, March 5 before playing at Newberry on Wednesday, March 6 and at Georgia Southwestern on Friday, March 8, Saturday, March 9 and Sunday, March 10. Since moving to Division II, the Pacers are 113-48 (70.2 percent) in Tuesday games, 139-65 (68.1 percent) in Wednesday contests, 157-113 (58.1 percent) in Friday games, 361-246 (59.7 percent) in Saturday games and 216-160 (57.4 percent) in Sunday affairs. During the same time, the team is 16-8 on March 5, 16-10 on March 6, 14-10 on March 8, 11-9 on March 9 and 18-7 on March 10. Â

This marks the first career meeting between USC Aiken and Emory & Henry. The Pacers lead the all-time series against the Wolves 42-24. USC Aiken holds a 31-16 edge in the all-time series against the Hurricanes.Â
