Junior Brian Wilson Names PBAC Player of the Week

October 12, 1998

AIKEN, S.C. – Junior midfielder Brian Wilson was named the Peach Belt Athletic Conference Player of the Week for men's soccer on Monday. Wilson, originally from Stockridge, Ga., totaled four assists and one goal in a 6-0 win over Newberry College on Wednesday and had a goal ina 3-3 tie against #13 Francis Marion on Saturday.

His four assists against Newberry tied a PBAC record and broke USCA's record for assists in a game. For the season he has 11 assists which is a new USCA single-season record with seven games remaining.

With Wilson being named Player of the Week, it is the first for a USCA soccer player since October 24, 1994 (Brad Bennett) and is only the third time the Pacers have received the honor. The only other time was Brad Reinhart on Sept. 30, 1991.

Wilson leads USCA (5-7-1, 1-3-1 in PBAC) with 19 points on the season. The Pacers play at Southern Wesleyan today at 4 pm. Head coach Ike Ofoje was not available for comment as he was on the road at Southern Wesleyan.
