The week, the University of South Carolina Aiken baseball team faces Newberry College three times. The Pacers travel to Newberry, S.C. to face the Wolves on Friday, Feb. 10 at 4 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 12 at 1 p.m. USC Aiken will be home on Saturday versus the same Wolves at 2 p.m. 
 
The Pacers opened the season with three wins against Carson-Newman University.
 
Newberry College is currently 2-1 after wins at home on Friday and Saturday against the Francis Marion Patriots, but lost to the Patriots at their home diamond in Florence, S.C. 
 
Week 1 Wrap-up

Luke Parker concluded the first week of the season with a .500 batting average on five-of-ten hitting that included one double, four runs, three RBI, and two steals on two attempts. Parker was also named the USC Aiken Student Athlete of the Week. 
 
James Eckert earned a .417 batting average on five-of-12 hitting with one double, three runs, two RBI, and two steals on two attempts. 
 
Jackson Hannon finished the series with a .250 batting average on three-of-12 hitting with three doubles, one run, and four RBI. 
 
He Can Pitch Too

After collecting two hits on the weekend with one double, three runs and two RBI, Justin Byrd pitched an inning of relief in the third game of the weekend. Byrd earned the save on no hits, no runs, and one walk. 
 
Pacers Launch the Long Ball

Luke Parker and Justin Byrd both went yard in game two of the series against Carson-Newman. The bases were empty; however, the two now account for the lone home runs on the team. 
 
Inside The Numbers

Since moving to Division II, the Pacers are 152-105 (59.2 percent) in Friday games, 347-237 (59.4 percent) in Saturday games, and 209-152 (57.9 percent) in Sunday contests. During that same time, the team is 10-2 on Feb. 10, 9-3 on Feb. 11, and 6-11 on Feb 12. 
 
Against The Opponent

USC Aiken lost the last matchup, 3-2, against Newberry College at an away game on Feb. 22, 2022. The teams are 5-5 in their last 10 meetings. The Pacers are 38-21 (64.4 percent) historically against the Wolves. The Pacers are 22-12 (64.7 percent) at home against Newberry and 14-9 (60.9 percent) on the road. The two have faced off at a neutral site twice with the Pacers earning wins both times.
