AIKEN, S.C. – University of South Carolina Aiken women's basketball standout Marta Rivera has been named the South Carolina Education Lottery Student-Athlete of the Month for December.

Rivera, a native of Madrid, Spain, had an outstanding month for the Pacers.

Selected as the PBC Player of the Week just before the holiday break, Rivera led the team with 15.3 points and 6.0 rebounds a game. For good measure, she was second on the team with seven assists and second on the squad with five steals during the month.

For the month, Rivera nailed 18-of-31 shots from the floor (58.1 percent). She also drained 10-of-15 free throws.

Rivera scored a career-high 20 points against top-10 Catawba before tying the mark with a 20-point contest at Coker on Dec. 19.  

The South Carolina Education Lottery USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Month award honors one student-athlete each month from an in-season sport for their hard work and effort. Each month during the 2023-24 athletic year one winner will be chosen from an in-season sport.
