Each week, the University of South Carolina Aiken will produce weekly notes. This week, USC Aiken hosts Lander Wednesday before playing at Catawba on Saturday.
Young Ties Old Mark
Uri-Malcolm Young distributed three assists in the 3-2 win over Clayton State. It marked the first time a Pacer had registered three assists in a match since Fernando Gamez-Noriega did so in a 7-0 victory over Catawba on Sept. 14, 2009.
It Had Been A While
The 3-2 win over Clayton State marked the first time the Pacers had defeated the Lakers since notching back-to-back wins in 2014-2015. It also marked the first win for USC Aiken in the PBC opener since a 3-1 win over No. 16 Young Harris on Oct. 5, 2019.
Great Debut
Goalkeeper
Tyler Hughes registered his first career start between the pipes against PBC foe Clayton State. Hughes was challenged – a lot – but was up for the task. He stopped 12 shots while playing all 90 minutes, helping the team post a 3-2 win over the Lakers.
Returning Home
The University of South Carolina Aiken played its first road match of the season on Saturday at Georgia Southwestern. The squad returns home on Wednesday, marking the team's third home match in four contests. After the one home match, the Pacers hit the road for back-to-back matches.
