AIKEN, S.C. – University of South Carolina Aiken baseball standout
Joel Haney recently picked up all-region accolades.
Haney, a native of Rock Hill, S.C., garnered all-region honors from D2CCA and NCBWA. He earned second-team honors from both organizations.
Haney, a sophomore from Rock Hill, S.C., led the team with a 2.39 ERA (2nd in the PBC) and notched a team-high seven wins. The right-handed hurler registered two of the team's three shutouts and had a pair of games. Haney recorded a scoreless streak over 35 innings.
He pitched a team-high 83 innings and struck out a team-best 71 batters (8th in the PBC) while limiting opponents to a mere .223 batting average. Haney earned NCBWA Region Pitcher of the Week honors and garnered PBC Pitcher of the Week accolades. He went the distance in the win over Columbus State and notched a season-high 12 strikeouts in the victory.
