AIKEN, S.C. – The nationally-ranked University of South Carolina Aiken golf team is set for the upcoming NCAA Super Regional, which is hosted by Valdosta State May 5-7.
The event will take place at the Kinderlou Golf Course in Valdosta, Ga.
Head coach
Michael Carlisle's team has been ranked in the top 10 nationally throughout the season. The Pacers are the No. 3 seed in the Southeast Region. Carson-Newman and Lincoln Memorial are No. 1 and No. 2, respectively.
USC Aiken will be represented by
Oscar Abrahamsson,
Charlie Denvir,
Karl Frisk,
Gage Weeks and
Jonah Winter.
Abrahamsson and Denvir are each coming off PBC all-tournament team accolades for their outstanding finishes at the PBC Championship. Denvir was fourth at the event while Abrahamsson was fifth. Abrahamsson has two top-five finishes on the year while the PBC Championship marked Denvir's first.
Frisk is a rookie who has competed in four events. He is coming off a 34
th-place effort at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate. His low round on the year is 70.
Weeks enters the lineup for the first time this season. The sophomore has a career average of 74.6. His best finish is 15
th, which occurred at the 7
th Annual UNG Fall Invitational.
Winter, a freshman from Sarasota, Fla., will see his first collegiate action at the tournament. Coming out of Booker H.S., Winter was a three-time state medalist.
The Pacers face some of the toughest teams in Division II as most are ranked in the top-25. Other teams in the regional include: Barry, Lee, Florida Southern, West Florida, Nova Southeastern, Saint Leo, Lynn, Delta State, West Georgia, Spring Hill, North Georgia, Georgia Southwestern, Limestone, Columbus State, Barton, Queens and King.
