Each week, the University of South Carolina Aiken will produce notes. This week, USC Aiken plays at Limestone on Wednesday and heads to Southern Wesleyan on Saturday.
Great Start To The Home Slate
Head coach
Mark Vanderslice's team opened the home season with a resounding 83-61 win over region foe Anderson on Nov. 16. The Pacers jumped on top of the Trojans early en route to a 39-20 halftime lead, essentially putting the game away early. Three Pacers netted double figures in the game (
Karon Boyd,
Tehree Horn and
Tyler Johnson) while another (
DeShawn Thomas) narrowly missed out on double digits with nine points.
Terrific Tehree
Preseason all-conference honoree
Tehree Horn came out on fire against the Trojans. He led the way with a 21-point, 10-rebound double-double effort. Horn connected on nine-of-19 shots from the floor and dished out a pair of assists in the win.
A Little Bit Of Everything
Three student-athletes did a little bit of everything in the win over Anderson.
Tyler Johnson posted a stat line of 17 points, four rebounds and four assists while
Karon Boyd tallied 17 points, five rebounds and a steal.
DeShawn Thomas had nine points and swatted four shots.
Inside The Numbers
This week, USC Aiken plays at Limestone on Wednesday, Nov. 23 before playing at Southern Wesleyan on Saturday, Nov. 26. Since moving to Division II, the Pacers are 131-133 (49.6 percent) in Wednesday games at 220-174 (55.8 percent) in Saturday contests. During the same time, the squad is 4-6 on Nov. 23 and 2-5 on Nov. 26.
Against The Opponents
This week, USC Aiken plays at Limestone on Wednesday, Nov. 23 before playing at Southern Wesleyan on Saturday, Nov. 26. Since moving to Division II, the Pacers trail the all-time series to the Saints 19-16. The last time the teams tangled was the opening round of the 2013-14 NCAA Tournament in which USC Aiken registered an 80-54 win against the No. 8 seed. USC Aiken holds a 16-12 edge in the all-time series against the Knights. The Pacers have won five of the last six outings against SWU.
