AUGUSTA, Ga. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's basketball team has been selected eighth in the PBC Preseason Coaches Poll, which was released Wednesday.
Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own teams.
The Pacers recorded 22 total points in the poll.
Lander, with seven first-place votes, topped the coaches poll. The Bearcats had 79 total points, besting North Georgia's 75 total points. The Nighthawks tallied the remaining three first-place nods.
Clayton State was selected third with 62 points. Georgia Southwestern 51 points) and Augusta (50 points) rounded out the top five.
Columbus State and Flagler were tied for sixth with 40 points. Young Harris (21 points) and Georgia College (10 points) followed USC Aiken.
The Pacers are coming off a shortened season where they finished 2-5. Head coach
Mark Miller's team returns the bulk of his team from a season ago. The returners accounted for over 90 percent of his team's scoring from the 2020-21 season.
USC Aiken also added an abundance of talent with newcomers
Yasmine Fairchild,
Tashiana Kwatowski,
McKenzie Lott,
Sarah Perez and
Jentri Worley.
Miller's team opens the 2021-22 campaign at Lenoir-Rhyne in the PBC/SAC Challenge on Saturday, Nov. 13 at 4:30 p.m. The squad hits the court the following day against No. 21 Carson-Newman for the final game of the two-day event.
The Pacers open their home slate on Tuesday, Nov. 23 at 5:30 p.m., against Shaw.
