AUGUSTA, Ga. – The University of South Carolina Aiken men's soccer team was lauded for its demeanor on the pitch by the members of the Peach Belt Conference with the Team Sportsmanship Award.

The program presents an award following each championship season to the team in that sport that best exemplifies the spirit of sportsmanship and generally conducts themselves with a high degree of integrity, character and class. The team award is selected by other teams who compete in that sport. Points are awarded based on how each team finished in the voting and in June, the institution with the highest totals will receive the 'PBC Institution of the Year Sportsmanship Award.'

"This is a great honor to our team," head coach Ike Ofoje said. "Our goal as a team is to always play hard and fair with respect to the opponent, the officials and the fans. I am very proud of our players because, in spite of our record, they displayed the ideals of the Peach Belt Conference and that of the NCAA Division II."

It marks the second time the men's soccer team won the award, with the first time coming in 2014.

The PBC began the Team Sportsmanship Award program in the 2008-09 season.
