A unique student-athlete during a very unique academic year. This could easily describe sophomore Darius Banks.

Banks, a native of North Myrtle Beach, S.C., is the lone male student-athlete on the school's first-ever Spirit Squad.

The squad is a cutting-edge athletic team that will be an integral part of USC Aiken athletic events. On the court, the Spirit Squad will showcase their complex choreography while also keeping the crowd involved. Off the court, the squad will appear at multiple community service events each year on behalf of USC Aiken.

The members of the team are an integral part of the gameday atmosphere, promoting good sportsmanship and adding to the unforgettable experience at USC Aiken.

Banks will have a strong presence on the squad. A versatile student-athlete, he played lacrosse in high school but wanted to make a push to be on the cutting-edge team. With him leading the way, look for him to be the first of many male student-athletes on the team over the next few years.
