Those are just some of the questions that volleyball freshman Kari Mercer had to ask when deciding on where to attend college.

Mercer, a defensive specialist on this year's team, is a native of Hilliard, Ohio. She is the younger sister of former USC Aiken standout Danielle Mercer, who graduated in 2017.

Danielle Mercer had a solid career, but had an exceptional senior season. During the 2016 season, Danielle was a key cog on the program's first-ever trip to the Elite Eight. She shattered the single-season school record for digs (772) and was an all-region performer after garnering PBC Libero of the Year honors.

Kari Mercer had several options to further her academic and athletic career, but committed to follow the same path Danielle did – to USC Aiken. She found her way into the starting line-up and has been outstanding on the back line, registering 2.50 digs per frame through the first seven matches.
