USC Aiken Women’s Tennis Notes – Week 10

Throughout the 2019 season, the USC Aiken Athletic Communications office will provide weekly notes, giving all of Pacer Nation an in-depth look at the team.

National Ranking

Last week, the Pacers managed to climb a pair of spots in the national rankings. The squad jumped to No. 36 from the previous ranking of No. 38.

Caging The Bearcats

The Pacers managed to pick up a 6-1 win at Lander last week for head coach Steve Dahm. The squad jumped out to a 1-0 lead after winning two-of-three doubles matches. The squad never looked back, claiming five-of-six singles contests, including four in just two sets.

Tough Contest

After defeating Lander, the Pacers turned their attention to another nationally-ranked foe in Flagler, which was No. 28. USC Aiken dropped the contest by a score of 7-0, marking its second loss in three matches.

Closer Than The Score Said

Despite losing 7-0 to the Saints, the match was much closer. In doubles action, the tandem of Elena Bompieri and Teresa Franco Dias lost 7-6. In singles action, Bompieri lost a three-set match at No. 1 while Karina Blas played her foe to extra points at No. 5. Rebekka Heigermoser pushed her foe at No. 6.
