Shutting Down The Hurricanes

The USC Aiken women's tennis team posted a 7-0 victory at Georgia Southwestern for its 11^th consecutive victory last Saturday. The squad lost just six games in three doubles matches. In singles action, the team needed a third set in only one match while overpowering the Hurricanes.
School-Record Streak

The 11^th victory extended what was the program's longest winning streak. The previous winning streak spanned eight matches, which was set during the 1998-99 campaign and tied in the 2005 season. However, the streak was snapped on Sunday at No. 15 Columbus State.

Playing Tough

Despite the 6-1 score at No. 15 Columbus State, USC Aiken played extremely close throughout the entire match. The squad lost a pair of doubles matches by scores of 6-4 and 6-3. Elena Bompieri took the three-set victory over Beatriz Lopez, who was ranked No. 50 in Division II.

Back At It

USC Aiken will look to get back to its winning ways Tuesday when it travels to nearby Lander. The Bearcats are 4-6 on the year and stand at 0-3 in league play, but the match always seems to be tightly contested.

This week, USC Aiken plays at Lander on Tuesday, March 26 before hosting Flagler on Saturday, March 30. The Pacers are 31-18 (63.3 percent) in Tuesday matches and 72-54 (57.1 percent) in Saturday contests. The squad is also 3-6 on March 26 and 4-4 on March 30.
