FLORENCE, S.C. – The University of South Carolina women's tennis team had a solid showing at the FMU/FTC Tournament over the weekend.
Head coach
Steve Dahm's team saw a pair of championships in doubles competition. Playing in the "A" Doubles division,
Elena Bompieri and
Teresa Franco Dias went 3-0. The squad won the opener 6-1 before picking up a 6-3 victory in the semifinals. In the championship, the dyad netted a 7-6 (3) victory.
In doubles action, the duo of
Alice Neves and
Rebekka Heigermoser won the "B" division. The squad registered a 6-2 win in the first round before taking home a 6-3 victory in the semifinals. The two won the championship by a score of 6-2.
The "A" Flight Singles division saw Bompieri take fifth place, winning 6-4, 6-4 in her final match.
Edith Croda won the "A" backdraw, claiming a 6-1, 7-5 victory in the consolation finals.
The "B" Flight Singles division saw
Karina Blas net a second-place effort. She got to the championship after claiming a 6-3, 7-5 win in the semifinals. Dias finished third in the draw.
