GREENVILLE, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's basketball team lost a 60-41 contest at Division I Furman Thursday evening in an exhibition game.
Head coach
Mark Miller's team was guided by
Kyrie' Chandler's team-best nine points, including six from downtown.
Kwajelin Farrar accounted for seven points and seven rebounds, including five on the offensive glass. Farrar hit three-of-four from the floor.
Star Toomey came off the bench to tally five points, five boards and block a game-best four shots in 17 minutes of action.
Melyk Taouil registered four points while
Va Draunidalo,
Sade Johnson,
Janae' Simpson and
Kanna Suzuki each chipped in three markers apiece.
USC Aiken hit 14-of-52 (26.9 percent) from the floor, including five-of-24 (20.8 percent) from behind the three-point stripe.
Miller's squad swatted seven shots compared to three by the home team. The Pacers garnered six steals while the Paladins had five steals.
USC Aiken was within three after the first quarter, but Furman outscored the visitors 20-10 in the second stanza. Miller's team was outscored 20-14 in the third, but played even with the home squad over the final 10 minutes of action (9-9).
The Pacers open the regular season Friday, Nov. 9, when they travel to No. 3 Carson-Newman. The contest is slated for 7 p.m. Live stats and video will be available at PacerSports.com.
