AIKEN, S.C.--USC Aiken's men's tennis team fell to NCAA Division I University of Buffalo, 4-3, today at the USC Aiken Tennis Complex in Aiken, S.C. USCA Head Coach
Steve Dahm watched his team lose two three-set matches to his alma mater. The Pacers fall to 7-5 on the season while the Bulls improve to 6-7 overall.
In the number two singles match, USC Aiken's Pierre Negri fought back after losing the first set to even the match but couldn't pull out the win, falling 6-4, 4-6 and 6-4, to Nick Zieziula.
Carlos Huerta had to come from behind to force a third set as well, but the sophomore lost in the number six singles match to Rangga Prayudha, 6-3, 4-6 and 6-2.
Nicolas Lombardo picked up a three-set victory for the Pacers. Lombardo downed Josh Liederman, 6-2, 6-7 and 7-6.
In the number one singles match,
Harshit Sharma beat Randy Rocchio in straight sets, 7-5 and 6-1.
Fernando Blanco also picked up a straight set win, beating Yules Hadisubroto, 6-1 and 6-1.
USC Aiken fell behind early by losing two of the three doubles matches. The duo of Sharma and Huerta defeated Liederman and Prayudha, 8-0, for the Pacers' lone doubles victory.
Dahm earned All-Mid American Conference honors as the number one singles and doubles player at the University of Buffalo where he played from 1992 to 1996.
The Pacers will return to action on Saturday when they host Catawba College beginning at 2:00 p.m., and Roger Williams University at 5:00 p.m.
