SAVANNAH, Ga. – The No. 29 University of South Carolina Aiken men's tennis team wrapped up its season with a hard-fought 5-3 loss to No. 3 Lander at the NCAA Southeast Region Tournament.
The Pacers conclude their season with a 10-10 mark, including a 10-9 record against Division II teams.
In doubles action, head coach
Steve Dahm's team jumped out to a 1-0 lead as top-seeded
Mathias Degardin and
Julien Tan defeated their opponents by an 8-4 score.
After the Bearcats knotted it at 1-1, second-seeded
Antonio Sabugueiro and
Tales Silva nearly registered a win. However, the squad came up just short, falling by a 9-8 (8-6) count.
Trailing 3-1, Tan improved to 2-0 on the day with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over No. 3 seed Marc Hofer.
USC Aiken evened the contest at 3-3 after Sabugueiro tallied a 6-4, 6-1 win at the No. 2 spot.
However, Lander managed to pick up wins at No. 4 and No. 1, completing the match at 5-3.
It marked the final match of the careers for seniors

Julien Tan.
