FLORENCE, S.C. – The No. 33 University of South Carolina Aiken men's tennis team lost a 5-4 decision to No. 14 Georgia College Saturday afternoon.
The Pacers are now 10-9 on the season.
Head coach
Steve Dahm's team fell behind 2-1 after doubles play. Third-seeded
Wojciech Adamek and
Hunter Lathrop teamed up for an 8-4 victory. However,
Antonio Sabugueiro and
Tales Silva lost a hard-fought 8-6 match at the No. 2 spot.
Mathias Degardin and
Julien Tan fell by an 8-5 count at the top spot.
USC Aiken evened the match when Adamek cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win at the No. 6 position. The Pacers knotted the contest at 3-3 when Degardin ousted No. 36 Christian Graff by a 6-2, 6-4 score at the No. 1 spot.
Trailing 4-3, Lathrop kept USC Aiken's hopes alive with a resounding 6-3, 6-4 win at the No. 4 spot. The match came down to the No. 5 position, which the Bobcats managed to win.
The Pacers will wait on the NCAA to see if they will continue their season in the NCAA Southeast Regional.
