AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's tennis team lost a 7-2 decision Sunday afternoon to Georgia College.
The Pacers are now 8-8 overall and 3-7 in league play.
In doubles action, the tandem of
Brigitta Mirak and
Kayla Calvert combined to post an 8-2 victory at the No. 2 slot. It marked the lone win in doubles action for head coach
Steve Dahm's team. Top-seeded
Olivera Veskovac and Marie Habiyaremye lost a hard-fought 8-6 contest. At the No. 3 slot,
Victoria Giannaccini and
Nadine Tusiama were narrowly defeated, 9-7.
Mirak garnered the team's lone victory in singles action. She posted a 6-0, 6-3 win at the No. 3 position.
Calvert dropped a three-set match at No. 4 by scores of 4-6, 6-4, 0-6.
Tusiama, playing at No. 1, forced extra points in both sets, but came up short 7-5, 7-6. Habiyaremye fell by a 6-4, 7-6 count at No. 5 while
Alice Neves dropped a 7-5, 6-2 decision at No. 6.
The Pacers return to action Sunday, Apr. 9 when they host Francis Marion at 12 p.m.
