AIKEN, S.C. – The No. 33 University of South Carolina Aiken men's tennis team posted an 8-1 victory over Limestone in the regular-season finale Friday afternoon.
The Pacers are now 10-7 on the season and sport a No. 6 region ranking.
Head coach
Steve Dahm's team cruised to a 3-0 lead in doubles action. Top-seeded
Mathias Degardin and
Julien Tan netted an 8-6 victory, marking the closest doubles match of the day.
Second-seeded
Antonio Sabugueiro and
Tales Silva posted a resounding 8-2 victory while
Wojciech Adamek and
Hunter Lathrop, playing at No. 3, won by an identical score.
In singles action, Degardin improved to 2-0 on the day with a three-set win at the top spot. He won by scores of 6-1, 6-7 and 10-8.
Sabugueiro did not have much of a problem against his counterpart, posting a 6-4, 6-1 win at the No. 2 slot.
Lathrop notched a 6-3, 6-3 victory at the No. 4 position while Adamek tallied a 6-2, 6-2 win at the No. 5 spot.
Silva did not have a blemish on his score, tallying a 6-0, 6-0 win at the No. 6 spot.
The Pacers return to action April 20 at the Peach Belt Conference Tournament.
