AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's tennis team posted a 9-0 shutout of Georgia Southwestern Saturday afternoon in Peach Belt Conference play.
The Pacers are now 8-7 on the season.
Head coach
Steve Dahm's squad cruised through doubles action by winning all three matches.
Top-seeded
Kayla Calvert and
Brigitta Mirak accounted for an 8-3 win. Marie Habiyaremye and
Olivera Veskovac totaled an 8-0 win at No. 2.
Victoria Giannaccini and
Nadine Tusiama won by the same count at the No. 3 slot.
Tusiama posted a 6-1, 6-0 win at the top singles spot. Mirak had a tougher time at No. 2, but ended up winning by a 6-1, 6-4 count. Calvert improved to 2-0 on the day with a resounding 6-1, 6-2 victory ta the No. 3 position.
Giannaccini garnered a 7-5, 6-0 win at No. 4 while Habiyaremye totaled 6-1, 6-0 win at the No. 5 slot.
Alice Neves picked up a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 6 to complete the shutout.
The Pacers return to action tomorrow when they host Georgia College at 2 p.m.
