AIKEN, S.C. – The No. 33 University of South Carolina Aiken men's tennis team posted a 9-0 shutout of Georgia Southwestern Saturday afternoon in Peach Belt Conference play.
The Pacers are now 7-7 on the season.
Head coach
Steve Dahm's team was never seriously challenged in doubles action. Top-seeded
Antonio Sabugueiro and
Julien Tan combined for an 8-5 victory. Second-seeded
Mathias Degardin and
Tales Silva notched an 8-5 win while
Wojciech Adamek and
Hunter Lathrop tallied an 8-4 victory at the No. 3 slot.
In singles action, Sabugueiro totaled a 6-1, 6-2 victory at the top spot. Degardin, playing at No. 2, cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 win.
Tan needed extra time to best his foe at No. 3, but delivered a 6-2, 5-7, 1-0 win. Adamek accounted for a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 4 while Silva notched a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 5.
Alvaro Garcia Gil closed out the win with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 6.
The Pacers return to action tomorrow when they host Georgia College at 2 p.m.
