YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – The No. 30 University of South Carolina Aiken women's tennis team lost a 7-2 decision at Young Harris Saturday afternoon.
The Pacers are now 4-5 on the season, including an 0-4 mark in league play.
Head coach
Steve Dahm's team trailed 2-1 after doubles action. The tandem of
Kayla Calvert and
Brigitta Mirak netted an 8-6 victory at the No. 2 slot.
Victoria Giannaccini and Marie Habiyaremye lost by an 8-6 count at the No. 3 position while top-seeded
Nadine Tusiama and
Olivera Veskovac fell by an 8-4 score.
Veskovac was the lone Pacer to pull off a victory in singles action. At the No. 2 spot, she bested her foe quite convincingly, winning by scores of 6-2, 6-2.
Calvert and Mirak both lost three-set matches, coming at No. 3 and No. 4, respectively.
Alice Neves fell by a 6-4, 6-3 score at No. 6 while Tusiama lost a 6-3, 6-4 decision at the top spot.
The Pacers have two weeks off before traveling to Lander on Saturday, March 18. The match is slated to start at 1 p.m.
