YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – The No. 39 University of South Carolina Aiken men's tennis team posted a 7-2 victory at Young Harris Saturday afternoon.
The Pacers are now 4-4 on the season, including a 1-3 mark in league play.
Head coach
Steve Dahm's team jumped out to a 2-1 lead in doubles action. The tandem of
Antonio Sabugueiro and
Tales Silva posted an 8-3 win at the No. 2 slot. The dyad of hunter Lathrop and
Wojciech Adamek garnered a hard-fought 9-8 victory at the No. 3 position.
Dahm's team broke open the match in singles play, cruising to the win. Adamek finished first, posting a 6-1, 6-1 victory at the No. 4 spot. Sabugueiro controlled his foe by a 6-3, 6-0 count at No. 2. Playing at the top spot,
Mathias Degardin continued his solid play, besting his foe by the same 6-3, 6-0 score.
Lathrop defeated his opponent at the third position by a 7-5, 6-3 count.
After the Mountain Lions earned their one singles victory,
Alvaro Garcia Gil closed the door on the home team with a 4-6, 6-1, 10-7 win at the No. 6 position.
The Pacers have two weeks off before traveling to No. 4 Lander on Saturday, March 18. The match is slated to start at 1 p.m.
