Pacers Unable To Record Upset

AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's tennis team lost a 7-2 contest to No. 7 Columbus State Friday afternoon in a Peach Belt Conference contest.

The Pacers are now 7-7 overall and 2-6 in league play. The Cougars improve to 14-2 on the year and 9-0 against conference competition.

Head coach Steve Dahm's team found itself trailing 3-0 heading into singles action.

In singles action, Nadine Tusiama notched an impressive 7-5, 6-3 victory at the top spot. Second-seeded Olivera Veskovac lost a hard-fought three-set match 7-5, 4-6, 5-10.

At the No. 4 slot, Brigitta Mirak pushed her foe to three sets, but also lost a 6-3, 2-6, 2-6 match.

Marie Habiyaremye won by default at the No. 6 position.

The Pacers return to action tomorrow when they host Georgia Southwestern at 11 a.m.
