COLUMBIA, S.C. – The No. 33 University of South Carolina Aiken men's tennis team garnered a 9-0 victory at Benedict Thursday afternoon.
The Pacers are now 6-5 on the season.
Head coach
Steve Dahm's team was not seriously challenged on the day. The squad started off in doubles action. The dyad of
Mathias Degardin and
Julien Tan combined for an 8-3 victory at No. 1. Playing at the No. 2 spot,
Antonio Sabugueiro and
Tales Silva won by an 8-2 score.
Wojciech Adamek and
Hunter Lathrop shut out their opponent, 8-0.
In singles action, Sabugueiro wasted little time in his 6-0, 6-1 victory at the no. 1 position. Second-seeded
Mathias Degardin totaled a 6-1, 6-2 victory. Tan improved to 2-0 on the day with a 6-0, 6-2 victory at the No. 3 slot.
Playing at No. 4, Lathrop turned in an impressive 6-0, 6-1 win. Adamek totaled a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 5 while
Alvaro Garcia Gil rounded out the sweep with a 6-1, 6-0 victory.
The Pacers return to action next week when they host BYU-Hawaii Wednesday, March 29 at 2 p.m.
