GREENWOOD, S.C. – The No. 30 University of South Carolina Aiken women's tennis team lost a 5-4 decision at Lander Saturday afternoon.
The Pacers are now 4-6 overall and 0-5 in league play. The Bearcats improve to 6-3 on the year and 3-2 against conference competition.
Head coach
Steve Dahm's team fell behind 2-1 after doubles action. USC Aiken's lone win in doubles play came at the No. 2 slot. The tandem of
Olivera Veskovac and Marie Habiyaremye accounted for an 8-5 victory.
In singles action,
Nadine Tusiama posted a 6-3, 6-4 win at the No. 1 position. Veskovac tallied a 6-3, 6-2 win at the No. 3 slot.
The team's lone other win came at the No. 4 position.
Brigitta Mirak posted a 6-4, 6-4 victory.
The match could have very easily been in favor of USC Aiken as a pair of student-athletes lost hard-fought, three-set matches in singles action.
The Pacers return to action against Augusta on Tuesday, March 21. The match is slated to start at 1 p.m.
