GAFFNEY, S.C. – The No. 30 University of South Carolina Aiken women's tennis team earned an 8-1 victory at Limestone Sunday afternoon.
The Pacers are now 4-1 on the season.
Head coach
Steve Dahm's team netted two victories in doubles action before cruising to six singles wins to close out the match.
Top-seeded
Nadine Tusiama and
Olivera Veskovac earned a hard-fought 9-7 win. Third-seeded Marie Habiyaremye and
Alice Neves were never challenged in an 8-1 victory. The No. 2 seed of
Brigitta Mirak and
Kayla Calvert lost a tough 9-8 contest.
Dahm's team applied the pressure in singles action. Tusiama, playing as the No. 1 seed, garnered 6-4, 6-3 victory. Veskovac was perfect in the first set, winning 6-0, before earning a 6-2 second-set victory at the No. 2 slot.
Calvert bounced back for a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 3. Mirak posted a 6-1, 6-4 victory at the No. 4 position.
Victoria Giannaccini tallied a 6-2, 6-4 victory at the No. 5 spot while Neves closed out the team win with a 6-2, 6-3 win at the No. 6 slot.
The Pacers return to action Tuesday when they travel to Clark Atlanta for a 2 p.m., contest.
