DUE WEST, S.C. – The No. 40 University of South Carolina Aiken men's tennis team netted a 9-0 victory at Erskine Monday afternoon.
The Pacers are now 3-1 on the season.
Head coach
Steve Dahm's team jumped out to a fast start, claiming all three doubles contests. Top-seeded
Mathias Degardin and
Julien Tan combined for an 8-5 victory. It marked the closest doubles match of the afternoon.
Antonio Sabugueiro and
Tales Silva notched an 8-2 victory at the No. 2 slot with the tandem of
Wojciech Adamek and
Hunter Lathrop cruised to an 8-1 win at the No. 3 position.
In singles action, Sabugueiro defeated his foe by a 6-2, 6-0 count at the No. 1 spot. Degardin, playing as the No. 2 seed, fought off his opponent by a -2, 6-4 score.
Tan garnered a 6-2, 6-1 victory at the No. 3 spot while Lathrop won by an identical count at the No. 4 slot.
Alvaro Garcia Gil tallied a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 5 while Silva closed out the home team with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 6.
The Pacers return to action Saturday when they host Auburn-Montgomery at 11 a.m.
