AIKEN, S.C. – The No. 30 University of South Carolina Aiken women's tennis team defeated Erskine by a 9-0 score Saturday afternoon.
The Pacers improve to 3-1 on the season.
Head coach
Steve Dahm's team jumped out to a commanding 3-0 lead in doubles action and never looked back.
The top-seeded tandem of
Nadine Tusiama and
Olivera Veskovac had the toughest time, but still managed to record an 8-6 victory.
Kayla Calvert and
Brigitta Mirak combined to play the No. 2 slot and easily garnered an 8-2 win.
Victoria Giannaccini and Marie Habiyaremye tallied an 8-3 victory at the No. 3 position.
In singles action, five of the six won in a mere two sets. Tusiama downed her foe 7-5, 6-2, at the No. 1 slot. Calvert controlled her foe, beating her 6-3, 6-1. Veskovac wrapped up the top of the line-up at No. 3 with a convincing 6-4, 6-2 win.
Mirak tallied a 7-5, 6-2 victory at the No. 4 spot while Habiyaremye notched a 6-1, 6-4 decision at No. 6. Giannaccini had to play extra, but still came away with a 6-2, 4-6, 10-6 victory.
The Pacers return to action Saturday, Feb. 18, when they host Auburn-Montgomery at 11 a.m.
