LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's tennis team lost a 9-0 decision at Georgia Gwinnett Wednesday afternoon.
Head coach
Steve Dahm's squad competed hard throughout, but was unable to pull out a victory.
In doubles action, the tandem of
Kayla Calvert and
Brigitta Mirak lost an 8-5 decision against the second-ranked team in NAIA.
Victoria Giannaccini and Marie Habiyaremye fell by an 8-4 score at the No. 3 spot. Top-seeded
Nadine Tusiama and
Olivera Veskovac lost an 8-1 decision to the No. 1 team in NAIA.
In singles action, Mirak pushed her opponent at No. 4 to extra points, but was unable to record a win. Mirak lost 6-4, 7-6 (8-6). Habiyaremye fell by a 6-3, 6-4 count at No. 6.
Calvert, playing at No. 3, dropped a 6-3, 6-2 contest. Tusiama, who competed at the top spot, fell by a 6-1, 6-1 score. Veskovac lost 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 while Giannaccini fell by a 6-1, 6-2 count.
The Pacers return to action Saturday when they host Newberry at 12 p.m.
