LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – The University of South Carolina Aiken men's tennis team dropped a 9-0 contest at Georgia Gwinnett Wednesday afternoon.
Head coach
Steve Dahm's team put forth a hard fought match, but was unable to come out with the win.
In doubles action, the No. 2 tandem of
Antonio Sabugueiro and
Tales Silva lost a tightly contested 9-7 match. Third-seeded
Hunter Lathrop and
Wojciech Adamek lost 8-3 while
Mathias Degardin and
Julien Tan played at the No. 1 slot and fell by an 8-2 count.
In singles action, no USC Aiken student-athlete was able to push the home team to three sets.
After falling 6-0 in the opening frame, Degardin, playing at No. 1, lost the second stanza by a 6-4 score. Sabugueiro dropped a 6-3, 6-2 decision at No. 2 while Tan, ranked No. 45 in Division II, fell by a 6-2, 6-1 score.
Lathrop played at No. 4 and lost a 6-3, 6-3 decision. Adamek lost 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 while
Alvaro Garcia Gil dropped a 6-1, 6-1 contest.
The Pacers return to action Saturday when they host Newberry at 12 p.m.
