COLUMBUS, Ga. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's tennis team lost a 5-0 decision to No. 10 Flagler in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
The Pacers conclude the season at 15-10 while the Saints improve to 21-6.
Head coach Steve Dahm's team put forth a strong effort but was unable to pull off the win. In doubles action, the top-seeded tandem of Nadine Tusiama and Olivera Veskovac lost an 8-4 decision. Sarah Bernos and Marie Habiyaremye played at the No. 2 slot, falling 8-3. Third-seeded Kayla Calvert and Marta Quereda lost an 8-0 decision.
In singles action, the Saints managed to net victories at the No. 5 and No. 6 positions, ending the match. The other matches were left unfinished, but Calvert was leading at the No. 3 spot by a 6-5 count in the first set. After dropping the first set, Veskovac was ahead 3-2 at the No. 2 slot.
The Pacers have just one senior on the team.
