AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken women's tennis team posted an easy 9-0 victory over visiting Clark Atlanta Sunday afternoon in non-conference action.
The Pacers are now 2-0 on the season.
In the straight sweep, the tandem of Nadine Tusiama and Shauna Williams notched an 8-6 victory at the No. 1 doubles position. Franziska Regel and Margot Simon tallied an 8-2 win at the No. 2 spot while Julie Arruda and Ella Rhodin teamed up for an 8-4 victory at the No. 3 slot.
Head coach Steve Dahm's team continued its strong play in singles action.
There, Simon, playing as the No. 1 seed, won in straight sets 6-0, 6-0. At No. 2, Tusiama garnered a 6-0, 6-2 victory.
Arruda, who saw time at the No. 3 position, won her match handily, taking a 6-1, 6-1 win.
Regel, playing at the No. 4 slot, had a tough match, but managed to record a straight set victory by scores of 6-2, 7-6.
Dahm's squad rounded out the victory with wins at No. 5 and No. 6. Williams took home the title at the No. 5 slot as she blazed to a 6-1, 6-0 win. Caitlyn Lawrence closed out the shutout win by taking a 6-1, 6-1 victory at the No. 6 spot.
The Pacers return to action Tuesday when they travel to rival Newberry for a 1 p.m., showdown. The contest is a non-conference affair.
