Pacers Rout Rival in Savannah River Showdown

AIKEN, S.C. - The University of South Carolina Aiken women's basketball team picked up a dominating 62-42 victory over Augusta State in a Peach Belt Conference CSRA showdown Monday night in the Convocation Center.

USC Aiken's win over their rival from across the Savannah River improves the Pacers to .500 on the season at 10-10 and more importantly, 5-6 in the PBC East Division.

Cameron Crapps (Elizabethton, Tenn./Lees-McRae) led the Pacers with a career-high 12 points, including a trio of three-pointers.

Augusta State led 10-9 at the 13:16 mark of the first half, but the Pacers found their rhythm and rattled off a 15-1 run over the next four minutes to build a 24-11 lead capped off by a three pointer from Daniela Tarailo (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point HS).

Head coach Mike Brandt's squad was methodical in dismantling the Jaguar defense en route to a 36-20 lead at halftime.

The Pacers were lethal from beyond the arc tying a season-high with 12 three-pointers building their lead to as many as 20 points in the contest.

USCA Student-Athlete-of-the-Week Nakia Pinkney (Orangeburg, S.C./Orangeburg-Wilkinson HS) continued her excellent form finishing with 10 points, six rebounds and two assists.

Nine different Pacers contributed double-digit minutes on the floor in a total team effort for coach Brandt.

The Pacers total team effort included a 36-12 scoring difference in favor of USCA as the Pacers tripled up ASU in scoring off the bench.

Kendra Chandler (Aiken, S.C./Aiken HS) led the Pacers defensive efforts finishing with four steals to go with eight points and two rebounds despite playing just 13 minutes.

Eboni Davis led the Jaguars efforts finishing with 13 points, eight rebounds, three steals and an assist.

USC Aiken will turn right around and travel across the river to play on the Jaguars home court as the two teams will next meet for a contest at Christenberry Fieldhouse in Augusta, Ga. on Feb. 3 beginning at 5:30 pm.
