AIKEN, SC - The USC Aiken men's and women's tennis teams shutout North Georgia by the same 9-0 score on Saturday at the USCA Tennis Complex in the Pacers last regular season home match of the 2009 campaign.

The No. 9 men's team improves t 16-3 overall and 5-3 in the Peach Belt Conference as the Saints fall to 5-11 on the season and 1-6 in the league. The USCA women's team goes to 11-9 in 2009 and 3-6 in the PBC as North Georgia falls to 6-15 overall and 1-8 in the conference.

On the women's side of things, sophomore Stephanie Humphrey and junior Maria Soledad Angel played at the top position for the first time this season, winning by an 8-5 score. The win pushes their record to 12-7 together and extends their win streak to four.

Playing at the two spot for the first time and coming out on top was juniors Mathilde Grenet and Brittany Telford. The duo wins by an 8-5 score to improve to 10-9 on the season.

Grenet continued her momentum from the doubles competition into singles play as she came up with the 6-2, 6-1 victory over the Saints' Maria Dreaden. Grenet improves to 12-8 on the season as she extends her win streak to five in a row. She has also won her 35th match of her career with this victory.

Angel pushes her streak to five matches with the 6-0, 6-0 shutout over North Georgia's Meredith Cash. Angel improves to 13-7 this season as she has gone 8-2 in her last ten matches played.

Also recording singles wins for the Pacers was Humphrey (6-3, 4-6, 10-6), Telford (6-1, 6-1), junior Brittany Gore (6-4, 6-3) and sophomore Melanie Schnieder (6-0, 6-1). Telford and Schnieder go above .500 with their victories as Gore goes to 9-6.

On the men's side of things, the Pacers shut down the Saints as USC Aiken only gave up nine games in singles play.

Senior Bruno Seves and sophomore Filipe Garcia both shut their opponents out. Seves goes to 15-3 on the season and is one win away from his 50th as a Pacer. Garcia improves to 14-4 overall and goes to 5-3 in conference play.

Seniors Dagoberto Darezzo and Edward Horne, along with freshman Gregory Andrade dropped on game apiece in each set. Darezzo goes to 16-2 on the season and an impressive 56-23 in his Pacer career. Horne is 12-3 this season and two wins away from his 50th victory, as Andrade is 10-7 in his rookie campaign.

Senior Chris Kaetz dropped three games as he defeated North Georgia's Adrien Saulis by 6-2, 6-1 scores. With the victory, Kaetz goes to 12-4 on the season, as he too is two wins away from his 50th.
In doubles action, No. 6 Darezzo and Horne won for their 13th time this season, capturing the 8-5 victory at the top spot. The duo extends their win streak to nine in a row.

Also extending their win streak to nine in a row was the team of Kaetz and Andrade, coming out with the 8-4 victory. The pair improves to 14-4 on the season and is 9-1 in the last ten matches played.

The No. 10 team of Seves and Garcia extend their streak to three matches, as they came out with the 9-8 victory. The duo improves to 15-2 on the season and 6-1 in league play.

The women's team will head to Morrow, Ga. on Monday to face PBC foe Clayton State for their last match of the season before heading to the conference tournament on April 17-19. The men's team is off until the PBC tournament next weekend.
