Darryl Pui drove in five runs while
Chad Jacobsen added a pair of doubles as 26th ranked USC Aiken (4-2) beat Carson-Newman (3-4) 9-4 in non-conference baseball action on Sunday afternoon at Roberto Hernandez Stadium. With the win, the Pacers take the rubber game of the series and notch their fifth-straight non-conference weekend series win dating back to the start of the 2006 season

Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the second, the Pacer offense erupted for five runs on three hits to take a 5-1 lead. After a sacrifice fly from Pui,
Ben Tankersley added an RBI bunt single. Jacobsen drove in two more with a two-out RBI double down the left field line and
Ken Raborn also doubled to the same spot, plating Jacobsen.
Pui finished 3-for-4 with five RBI while Jacobsen was 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run scored.
Pui drove home
Zach Cooper in the third inning on a two-out single to center field. Cooper scored three times on the afternoon.
In the seventh, Pui's bases clearing double down the left field line put the game out of reach 9-1.
Nick Achberger homered in the eighth for Carson-Newman while Tyler Wynn recorded a pinch hit triple, plating two, as the Eagles pulled within 9-4, but
Ryan Mitchell came on to get the final out and end the rally.
Mills Rogers and Joe Kugler each had two hits for Carson-Newman.
On the mound,
Beau Hill (2-0) turned in his second-consecutive strong performance, scattering four hits and allowing one unearned run on three strikeouts and two walks in 7.0 innings for the win.
Steve Cishek (0-2) was chased after 1.2 innings of action surrendering four earned runs on one hit and four walks in the loss. In total, six Eagle pitchers combined for 10 walks and one hit batter.
USC Aiken will continue its 20-game homestand on Saturday, February 17 when the Pacers open up Peach Belt Conference play by hosting North Georgia for a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 PM at Roberto Hernandez Stadium. Carson-Newman will play at North Greenville on Tuesday, February 13 in a doubleheader at 1:00 PM.
